YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO THRIVE WITH US

Keogh Ryan Tierney Chartered Accountants was established in 2005. The firm was founded with the intention of delivering Advisory, Audit and Tax services to owner managed companies that were growing and who needed a range of different services. Paul Tierney (ex Deloitte) is the firms Audit and Advisory partner and Peter Keogh (ex PwC) is our Tax partner. The pedigree of our partner manager team is reflected in the quality of client that we service and quality of the training and experience that our trainees receive.

Since inception the firm has focused on attracting staff with a difference. We also recognise that the training in Keogh Ryan Tierney will be different to the large branded firms, but equally we recognise that Keogh Ryan Tierney is a training firm and this is at the core of who we are. We can offer flexibility, autonomy and exposure to varied work but still maintain an absolute commitment to high quality service without a culture of overtime. We find that graduates coming from a diverse range of backgrounds, often with significant non-academic life experiences thrive with us.

We provide an opportunity for staff to work hard and gain valuable experience but maintain a vibrant lifestyle outside the office. We have a layered team structure in place in the organisation that facilitates coaching and on the job training which allows all staff to work with colleagues across different functions and at different levels up to Partner. We believe that it is this varied experience that provides the best long term career opportunities for our staff. We also put a strong focus on our trainees passing all of their exams and provide study leave and additional training courses over and above that recommended by the relevant examining body.

SARAH STACK
SARAH STACKI joined Keogh Ryan Tierney in 2020 as a Co-Op student. Having had no previous experience in accounting was a challenge. However, everyone within the firm was helpful and friendly. This was particularly the case during the Covid-19 pandemic when working remotely. Following on from the fantastic experience that I gained from my Co-Op placement I was delighted to be offered a training contract when I finished my undergraduate degree.

Upon completing my Degree in Business Studies from the University of Limerick, I re-joined Keogh Ryan Tierney in 2021. I registered with Chartered Accountants Ireland to continue with my accounting exams. Keogh Ryan Tierney works with a broad range of clients, the majority of which are audit-based clients. This has provided me with excellent exposure to large companies within different industries. This will greatly benefit my professional development and future career prospects.

CONOR LINEHAN
CONOR LINEHANOn the back of completing a Masters in Taxation in the University of Limerick, I joined Keogh Ryan Tierney in August 2020. It was a strange time to be starting off my career, given that it was the height of the Covid-19 restrictions. However, I knew from the first day joining the team that joining Keogh Ryan Tierney was a really good fit for me. Settling into a new role, while occasionally having to work remotely, was a challenge I had never experienced before.

The willingness of others to help me find my feet made it a seamless transition. I am now back in the office full time where I work directly with the Tax partner as part of my role. Working directly with partners, managers and clients is giving me the best possible training to become a Chartered Tax advisor. I passed my Part 2 ITI exams in my first year with the firm and I have recently passed the final Part 3’s of the ITI exams.

LISA FITZGERALD
LISA FITZGERALDOn graduating from the University of Limerick with a Degree in Business Studies I joined a Big 4 firm in Limerick as an audit trainee in 2016. Although I got good experience working with this firm, I spent the majority of my first year as a trainee working on one audit which required me to work away from home for long periods of the year. In 2017 I moved to Keogh Ryan Tierney to complete the balance of my training contract.

I recognized that I needed more work life balance and I wanted to move to a firm that would offer exposure to all areas of audit and accounting. I do not regret making this move as joining Keogh Ryan Tierney was a great starting point for me as I developed invaluable experience and qualified as a Chartered Accountant. I also found the culture and atmosphere within the office fantastic, and I made friends for life during my 3 years with the firm. Since qualifying as a Chartered Accountant I have moved on to work for one of Europe’s largest food manufacturers.

ELAINE MARSH
ELAINE MARSHI joined Keogh Ryan Tierney in 2021 as an audit manager having completed my training contract in Audit with a Big 4 firm in Limerick. Having spent almost 5 years with a Big 4 firm I was looking to make a move which would improve my work life balance as well as gain a more rounded experience in accounting within different sectors. Since joining the firm I have worked closely with other Departments within the firm particularly with respect to Taxation and Company Law matters.

The partners have worked closely with me and continuously support my training and development. I feel that the partners have shared knowledge and skills with me that will stand to me for the rest of my professional career. I have also joined the firm’s very active Sports and Social committee and from a work life balance perspective, since joining Keogh Ryan Tierney I do not work long overtime hours and weekends anymore!

AOIFE SHEAHAN
AOIFE SHEAHANOn completion of a Law Degree from the University of Limerick, I decided to change direction and went on to complete a Master’s Degree in Business Management which led me to joining Keogh Ryan Tierney. This was a new challenge as I did not have a lot of accounting experience, but almost straight away I settled in due to the helpful and friendly nature of everyone in the firm. On joining the firm, I enrolled with Chartered Accountants Ireland to undertake my professional exams – CAP1, CAP2 and FAE, all of which I passed at the first attempt.

As many of my colleagues were following the same path, they were in a position to offer me practical advice and assistance. At Keogh Ryan Tierney there is a diverse working environment ranging from working with small businesses and start-ups, to industry leaders. The firm has close working relationships with all of its clients which allowed me to gain valuable insights into different industries. Ultimately, once qualified this culminated in me recently joining a large client of the firm as a financial accountant, taking primary responsibility for newly acquired subsidiary companies of the group.

GARETH QUINN MCDONAGH
GARETH QUINN MCDONAGHComing from Munster Rugby Academy I had no previous experience of working in an office environment. The partners and staff facilitated this transition greatly. Choosing Keogh Ryan Tierney as the starting point in my career has been a great decision, having completed my three- and half-year training contact and qualified as a Chartered Accountant.

Since qualifying as a
Chartered Accountant I have moved on to work with Stryker European Financial Shared Services Centre in Amsterdam.
I have found that my time and experience with Keogh Ryan Tierney benefitted me greatly in securing this position as I had gathered a significant amount of experience in accounts preparation and auditing across a wide variety of industries from manufacturing to technology.
